June 2008 Archives

I've been lusting after the Omega Planet Ocean 2900.51.82 watch for over a year. It was one of the first quality watches that I ever saw (aside from the usual Rolexes and Breitlings) that 'stuck' with me. I tried to find watches that looked similar, but never really found a close match.

I decided to sell most of my collection and buy the Omega. It came yesterday, and I couldn't be happier with it - it's amazing.

It's an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, model 2900.51.82 with a Co-axial Chronograph and is water resistant to 600m/2000ft. It features a helium release valve at the 10:00 position, and weighs about 1-lb (just kidding, but it's heavy and massive). It's 45.5mm on the crown, and has a super cool deployant clasp.

Looks good on the wrist:

Now my only other dream watch is a Panerai PAM 111, but it's about $7,000, so I won't be buying that any time soon. :-D

In other news, I may have to skip the triathlon. My heart rate is still too high, and I'm afraid that the hilly nature of the triathlon course will kill me. I probably need to see the doctor to see what's going on.

I did ride 54 miles on Sunday and ran most of the 6-mile course at Pea Ridge, but my heart rate was over 200 for almost 2 hours. Normally it would be in the 175 range, which is still higher than I'd like, but I'm no super athlete, so I can live with that.

Worst case scenario, I can skip the one on June 22 - there are two more (one in St. Louis in September, and one in Conway in October) that I could do... they look like more fun, so I may go that route.

Well, I should get back to work... more to come.
